There’s a new face at Shoreline Scholars — and he has four paws, a curly coat, and a heart as big as the ocean.
Meet Wallace, our Community Companion.
Wallace is a 13-year-old Standard Poodle, a service dog, and a trained therapy dog. He has years of experience with kids and adults alike, and he absolutely loves attention — which works out well, because we suspect he’s going to get plenty of it.
A Gentle Presence. A Loyal Friend.
Anyone who has spent time around a well-loved dog knows what they bring to a room: calm, comfort, and an open invitation to slow down. That’s exactly what Wallace offers our learning community. He’s gentle, patient, and genuinely happy to be around people of all ages — whether that’s a five-year-old showing him a seashell or a parent saying hello at pickup.
For some children, a friendly dog is the bridge that makes a new place feel like home. For others, he’s simply a warm companion on an ordinary Thursday. Either way, we believe learning happens best when children feel safe and cared for — and Wallace is one more way our community breathes a little easier.
When You’ll See Him
Wallace will be with us on Thursdays, hanging out at our center during classes. He’s easygoing about his schedule — happy to greet, happy to observe, happy to nap.
And when he needs a break, he has his own cozy bed at the center where he can rest and relax. (Even Community Companions need quiet time.)
A Few Things Families Should Know
- He’s experienced. As a service dog and trained therapy dog, Wallace knows how to be calm and steady around children.
- He’s kind. Gentle and patient, he loves being around people of all ages.
- He’s hypoallergenic. Standard Poodles are a wonderful fit for a learning community like ours.
- He has his own space. His cozy bed at the center gives him a place to recharge whenever he needs it.
